Action verbs
Definition:
Action verbs tell what subject does or did.
Sentence Examples:
The runner sprinted towards the base.
The batter hit a walk-off home run.
He dove for the catch.

A verb that is made up of more than one word is called a verb phrase. It contains a main verb and helping
verb or verbs. The main verb expresses action or being in the sentence. The helping verbs work with the main verbs but
do not show action.
Ex: Grayce has arrived at the party.
Sometimes there can be more than one helping verb or main verb.

5 Being and Linking Verbs
Some verbs don't show action. They show what the subject
is or is like.Verbs called being verbs show the state.
A being verb is often a linking verb.
common being and linking verbs:
am, are, is, was, were, seem, be, been
smell, being, become, appear, taste
Simple Verb Tenses
The tense of a verb tells when the action or state of being takes place.
Present tense tells that something is happening NOW
Past tense tells that something has already happened
Future tense tells that something WILL happen

Irregular and regular verbs
The important things to remember are that regular verbs
change normally. Usually the only thing that changes is the
ending (like walk changes to walked). Irregular verbs
change differently (like write changes to wrote).
