lymphatic system?
• What are the parts of the
lymphatic system?
What is the lymphatic sytem?
*The lymphatic system is the group of vessels,
organs, and tissues that collects excess fluid and
returns it to the blood. The lymphatic system
also helps your body fight pathogens.
*It is composed of: lymph capillaries, lymph
vessels, bone marrow, lymph nodes, the thymus,
and the spleen,
Vocabulary
1. lymph capillaries-smallest vessels that carry
fluid collected by the lymphatic system (can
include dead cells or pathogens)
2. lymph vessels-larger vessels of the lymphatic
system
3. lymph nodes- small masses of tissue that
remove pathogens and dead cells from
lymph
4. lymph-fluid and particles absorbed by the
lymph capillaries

Summary
In-Class Questions
1. How do the lymphatic and circulatory systems
work together?
2.
Work with a partner to list (in order) how fluid
flows from the cardiovascular system to the
lymphatic system (after reading the section)

Sometimes you can easily feel your lymph
nodes when they are swollen. If you had
swollen lymph nodes, what could you infer?
Homework 11/17

2. Complete the Process Chart below to show how fluid travels
between the cardiovascular system and the lymphatic system.

2.
3.
4.
3. What are three things that can be found in lymph?
