NIKHEF VIERT 60 JAAR CERN
Wij nodigen u hierbij van harte uit om met ons 60 jaar van wetenschap en
innovatie op CERN te vieren. Een periode waarin, mede door CERN, het
wetenschappelijk wereldbeeld fundamenteel is veranderd. De ontwikkeling
van de deeltjesfysica, waaronder de recente ontdekking van het Higgs deeltje,
roept nieuwe, grote vragen op. Waar komt het materie overschot in het heelal
vandaan? Waaruit bestaat de overige 95% van het heelal die we nog niet
kennen?
Tijdens een feestelijk symposium met aansluitend een receptie, georganiseerd
door Nikhef, het Nationaal instituut voor subatomaire fysica, wordt u
meegenomen naar de historie, de huidige en de toekomstige onderzoeken
op CERN en in het bijzonder de Nederlandse bijdragen hieraan. Niet
alleen onderzoek, maar ook de ontwikkeling van nieuwe technologieën en
het inspireren van volgende generaties spelen hierbij een grote rol. Een
middagvullend programma vol nieuwsgierigheids-gedreven onderzoek en zijn
omvangrijke impact. Wij kijken uit naar uw komst.
NIKHEF IS CELEBRATING CERN’S 60TH ANNIVERSARY
We cordially invite you to celebrate with us 60 years of science and innovation
at CERN. A period in which, thanks to CERN among others, our scientific view
and understanding of the world has changed considerably. Developments in
particle physics, including the recent discovery of the Higgs particle, raise important new questions: Where does the excess of matter in the universe come
from? What is the 95% of the universe, which we do not yet understand, made
of?
