Future plans
On the 4th of November the Work Council will have a meeting to
produce proposals for activities during 2015. Suggestions are welcome
and if you have an idea you can contact HR at humanresources@csc.kth.se
Salary review 2014
Still ongoing negotiations at KTH...
However, we have already started up with discussions to evaluate last year’s
performance.
You will be informed as soon as we get more information!
The yearly summary of
production
The yearly summary of production (aka
Årsredovisningsenkäten) will be electronically distributed to
all faculty and Ph.D. students.
Data will be summarized and sent for review to head of
department.
Your input is important – both for CSC and KTH centrally.
Watch out for a survey link in your inbox.
Assessment of local
administration
Dean´s office (aka staben) was centralized last autumn.
Some adjustments left to do.
We need your input to know what is working well and what to
adjust in order to work better.
An assessment of the local administration will hence be
performed during November and December.
A subset of employees and managers will be involved.

socSMCs - „Socializing Sensorimotor Contingencies“
FETPROACT-2-2014 (budget 3.7 MEUR, 48 months)
Our long term vision is to realize a new socially competent robot technology grounded in novel insights
into mechanisms of functional and dysfunctional social behavior, and to test novel aspects and strategies
for human-robot interaction and cooperation that can be applied in a multitude of assistive roles relying
on highly compact computational solutions.

RobDREAM „Optimizing Robot Performance while Dreaming“
ICT-23-2014 (budget 5.4 MEUR, 36 months)
Sleep! For hominids and most other mammals sleep means more than regeneration. Sleep positively affects
working memory, which in turn improves higher-level cognitive functions such as decision making and reasoning.
This is the inspiration of RobDREAM! What if robots could also improve their capabilities in their inactive phases –
by processing experiences made during the working day and by exploring – or “dreaming” of – possible future
situations and how to solve them best?

IPSYS „Interactive Physical Systems: Moduli Spaces,
Inference and Control“
Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (budget 18.5 MSEK, 60 months)
The main novel aspect of this proposal is the introduction of moduli spaces for representing complex interaction
tasks considering an appropriate notion of equivalence. To this end, we claim that nobody has yet explored how
the integration of statistical and moduli space approaches can be used to model common spaces for perception
and action to achieve an efficient representation suitable for learning and control. In our approach, this relates to
encoding of robot motion for interaction with objects and learning of models for high-level task modeling and
planning.

Robots performing tasks through teleoperation – a human is through own motion controlling a
remote robot that executes tasks in areas dangerous or not accessible by humans. A human
wears an exoskeleton (robotic body) that serves as a joystick to generate control for the remote
robot by direct own body movements.

SARAFun Assembly Robotics: robots assisting humans in industrial settings.
Robots are equipped with arms/hands and the ability to monitor humans in their
daily work. Robots can learn from humans by observing them and then execute
the tasks that are repetitive (boring) and/or dangerous for humans.
