• "The future of manufacturing in Malta is through
technology and innovation. We will only compete if
we are at the cutting edge both in product and
process. Continuous research and development is
today as critical to an organisation as the traditional
production and administrative processes".

The projects
In choosing our project titles year to year we are typically
looking at subject that can be broadly characterised under one
of three headings
• Targeted development.
• Problem solving.
• Product design.
Targeted Development
Scenario: We have a product or product feature that we would
like modify in order to improve performance, manufacturability,
simplify or reduce cost.
Examples:
• Design for manufacture of a one touch damped opening
compact.
• Design for a universal case lacquering fixture.
• Design for a cosmetic case manipulator.

Problem solving
Scenario: a product or process that needs re-engineering in
order to perform as designed.
Example
• A camera inspection system for a hot foil printing
application.
Product Design
Scenario: a product feature designed to meet a specific
customer consumer or consumer need.
