AMI Use Case Solution Definition
Define Sub Use Cases
Use Case B1: Perform remote energy & demand read

B1.1 AMI Meter/Device completes default schedule read request

B1.2 AMI Meter/Device completes an on-demand read

B1.3 Automatically receive non-usage (event) messages

B1.4 Data users successfully retrieve either raw or bill-ready usage

B1.5 AMI Head-End manages the meter reading schedule

B1.6 Meter does not communicate remotely during default schedule read

B1.7 Field person retrieves data directly from AMI Meter/Device

B1.8 MDUS reports communication failure to retrieve billing data

B1.9 AMI Meter/Device does not respond to an on-demand read

AMI Integration Objectives
Predefined integration of the solution to market-leading AMI/MDM
systems, such that end-to-end processes can be fully executed, and
is based on eSOA principles.

Develop
and publish a set of ‘open’ enterprise services available to
any third-party AMI/MDM vendor wishing to integrate to SAP backend systems … drive market standardization.

AMI Event Management: Triggering Follow-up
Actions for Events
Follow-up actions triggered by
the AMI Event Management
• Missing meter readings
• Create notification
• Validation error
• Meter error
• Meter change required
• Concentrator error
• Tamper event
• Actual meter reading outside of
AMI Event Management
Examples for events reported
by the AMI Infrastructure
predefined range
• Overvoltage / Undervoltage
• Create service order
• Create compatible unit order
• Create customer contact
