KEY FINDINGS by SciVal (Elsevier)

University of Calcutta publishes 600 papers on an average roughly about 1% of
the national average. The university registered a whopping 88% growth in 5
years.
1880 authors published 3251 papers attracting around 4 citations per paper
(overall) which is better than the national average of 3.5. Chemistry tops the list
here with a CPP of 6.6.
Top 5 research areas in which CU has significant output are Chemistry, Physics,
Engineering, Computer Science & Biochemistry
Research output in Chemistry, Biochemistry & Materials Science attract the
most # of citations contributing to the high CPP.
Increasing numbers of papers for CU figure in the most cited journals and the
same trend is seen in the quality of journals chosen by CU’s research
community.
Collaboration analysis reveals that for all universities studied, internationally
collaborated papers are driving the citation impact and thus impacts university
rankings worldwide.
Out of the special centres established, the Dr. B C Guha Centre for Genetic
Engineering & Biotechnology is the most prolific both qualitatively (h-index and
citations) and quantitatively (# of papers).
