especially important period of time.

Do you remember your first campus visit, registration (注册) or the
first day of classes? How did you feel? And why did you get that kind
of feeling?
 I felt excited when I came to the campus for the first time. It
was so big and beautiful  tall buildings, lovely flowers and
trees, and grand lawns. Welcoming slogans could be seen here
and there. And inspiring music from the loudspeakers added to
my excitement. Spacious as it is, the campus was crowded with
freshmen like me, their busy parents, teachers and students who
were helping with our registration. Suddenly I felt that I was no
longer my mom’s baby; I was an adult! I was overwhelmed with
pride and excitement.
Do you remember your first campus visit, registration (注册) or the
first day of classes? How did you feel? And why did you get that kind
of feeling?
 I felt at a loss when I first came to the university. The
campus was so big that I was afraid I would get lost if left
alone. It seemed to be messy and noisy everywhere, with
thousands of people coming and going. I felt a little dizzy and
tired after a whole day’s journey by train. All I could do was
to follow my parents here and there, not knowing what to do
and what to say.
Do you remember your first campus visit, registration (注册) or the
first day of classes? How did you feel? And why did you get that kind
of feeling?
 I still remember the day when I first came to the university.
After registration, my parents left and I found myself standing
alone in a place I had never been before. It seemed that everyone
on campus was watching me. I was feeling so ill at ease that I
even found it difficult to gather myself. When I came back to my
dorm, my roommates were busy making their beds. I just sat
there and began to think of my parents. The sense of loneliness
was so strong that I thought I was going to cry.
How I felt the first day on campus. (Para.1)

also dropped the food tray and fell to the ground.

nothing serious had happened.
My reflections on making mistakes (Para.9~12)

P2、 P3; a).b).c)…;(1).(2).(3)…
Direction: For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a
composition on the topic: A Portrait of a Freshman.
You should write at least 120 words according to the
outline given below in Chinese.
A Portrait of a Freshman
To paint a typical picture of a
freshman, we may look at a
remarkable aspect — the way they
appear. On campus, if we see a
student with conservative hair style,
simple clothes, and a frequent “May I
come in?” , walking noisily while
talking shyly, we would assume that
he or she might be a freshman.
Now we turn to another aspect — the way
they study. A freshman is used to listening to
the teacher attentively, taking notes carefully
and trying hard to remember the material he or
she has learnt.
A freshman often assumes that he or she
should observe discipline and carry out every order from
above, and is afraid of giving teachers a bad impression. “Is it
proper?” or “Can I?” are the words teachers often hear from a
freshman.
For a freshman, if one thing
goes wrong, the day is ruined. A
freshman is busy saying “hello”.
To sum up, a freshman is
innocent and obedient, and he or
she feels fresh and fanciful.
You should spend no more than 40 minutes on this task. As part
of a class assignment you have been asked to write about the
following topic.
Many students coming from other places find their first day
at high school or college difficult, because they feel very alone.
What do you think are the other difficulties they face on their
first day? What can schools and colleges do to make them feel
more comfortable? You are required to support your ideas with
relevant information and examples based on your own
knowledge and experience.
You should write at least 250 words.
II.

on every line and keep your handwriting to a reasonable size.
