With our school and neighborhoods, PACE strives as a
community to foster learning and to develop a
foundation for our children’s future.

Who we are




~ 121 families
~ 151 students divided into 6 classrooms
1st – 6th Grade
6 wonderful teachers, 1 Spanish instructor

Investigating the possibility of
 PACE Kindergarten
Kindergarten investigative committee has been
formed
If you are interested in PACE Kindergarten please fill
out the Kindergarten interest form so we can
communicate to the District your strong support for
offering this class

History
Fifteen families presented a proposal to the Northshore
School District (NSD) for a program that would
emphasize higher parent involvement




Created in 1973 with Kindergarten to Grade 3 in one
classroom at Lockwood Elementary.
Expanded between 1974 and 1999 to become a Kindergarten
to Grade 6 program at four sites throughout the district.
Reduced in 2001 to a Grade 1 to 6 program at the same four
sites.
In 2009, consolidated from 4 sites to 3
(Lockwood, Woodmoor, Wellington).

An accelerated program

In other words, our classes have the same
demographic range of students in any classroom.

Parents are consistently involved in the classroom
during instruction which allows for more:

One-on-one instruction
Small group instruction
Cooperative, multi-age instruction
Enrichment activities

Parents help with non-instructional tasks, enabling
the teachers to focus on instruction and curriculum
development.


PACE Parents…

Commit FINANCIALLY

Program fee per student determined
annually:(2010-2011 school year = $200).



Covers Spanish Instruction, Mini-Units, Outdoor
Education, Social Events, and all planned class
field trips.
If a class elects to do additional field trips,
additional $$ may be required.
Write a check, participate in fund-raising
opportunities, or a combination of both.




80 hours per family per school year
Many choices—classroom, committee or board
position, field trips, prep at home
Attend bi-monthly General meetings

Who Can Enroll in PACE

PACE is open to all children in the Northshore
School District on a space-available basis.

PACE @ Lockwood feeder schools are:
Arrowhead
Kenmore
Westhill

Crystal Springs
Lockwood
Frank Love
Shelton View
If you are in Northshore, but your elementary
school is not listed here, you can enroll in one of
the other 2 PACE programs.

How To Enroll in PACE

Sign up for a tour.

Attend a tour.

Complete and turn in paperwork.

Your child’s name is placed in a lottery.

Families are notified of the status of their
enrollment application in late February.

If classes are filled, families will go on a waitlist.
