WHY WE HAVE
DEVELOPED A
SAFEGUARDING &
CHILD PROTECTION
TRAINING COURSE
5
WHY WE HAVE DEVELOPED AN ONLINE SAFEGUARDING
& CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING COURSE
• Providing a safe learning environment for children and vulnerable
adults is at the heart of everything we do
• We’re proud of our track record for Safer Recruitment and have
been awarded the DfE Quality Mark at 100% for seventh consecutive time
• Temporary staff often fall outside the remit of three yearly training for
safeguarding and child protection
• We have a duty of care to ensure that all of our temporary staff have
the skills and sensitivity to deal with safeguarding and child protection
6
WHY WE HAVE DEVELOPED AN ONLINE SAFEGUARDING
& CHILD PROTECTION TRAINING COURSE
• Feedback on our training is that it has given schools greater confidence in
skills of our staff working in their school
• We are responding to feedback from partner schools who want online
training for ALL members of staff
• Market research found that 86% of schools delivered their existing
training offline, with 67% feeling that an online solution would make their
training more effective
• 80% of schools and colleges surveyed were dissatisfied with some
elements of their current safeguarding training provision

CREATING A SAFER LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

and child protection as well as the identification of harm, abuse or neglect
Roles and responsibilities – Roles and responsibilities in relation to
safeguarding children and child protection, what staff should do if they’re in
receipt of information, and who to refer it to

encounter in their working day. Also covering the use of force or restraint,
accidents, first aid and health and safety in practical lessons, as well as on
educational visits
E-safety and anti-bullying – Raising awareness of e-safety, the subject of
bullying and cyber-bullying and how to approach them
