IN 1988, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF BRO MARTINUS L. JOHNSON, CHAIRPERSON ,
MUSIC COMMITTEE, THE FUMC WAS BLESSED AND REPLACED ITS MORE THAN
TWENTY FIVE YEARS OLD ORGAN.
LITTLE DID WE KNOW THAT THE LIFE OF THAT ORGAN WOULD BE MADE SHORT.
WITH THE ABSENCE OF ELECTRICITY, THE ORGAN PROVIDED HOME FOR RATS
AND OTHER CREATURES, DESTROYING OUR ORGAN.
In 2007, UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF BRO. ZACKERY TAYLOR MAJOR, BRO. MARTINUS L.
JOHNSON WAS APPOINTED CHAIRPERSON FOR THE FUMC ORGAN REPLACEMENT
COMMITTEE.
THIS DUTY WAS COMPLETED IN 2009 WHEN THE REUNION USA AND THE FIRST UNITED
METHODIST CHURCH MONROVIA COMBINDED RESOURCES AND TOGETHER PURCHASED AN
ORGAN AT THE TOTAL COST OF EIGHTEEN THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED AND FORTY-FIVE
DOLLARS ($18,645.00).
TODAY, FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH MONROVIA HAS ONE OF THE BEST CHURCH
ORGANS IN LIBERIA.
THANKS AGAIN TO ALL OF OUR CONTRIBUTORS
THE REUNION, IN A JOINT PROJECT PURCHASED AN

ON HER VISIT TO THE REPUBLIC OF SIERRA LEONE, REV. ERLENE
THOMPSON PASTOR OF FUMC MONROVIA HAD A INTERACTION WITH
THE CITIZEN OF THE VILLEGE OF SIAFFA-KEH, DURING A CITIZEN UNREST
ON THE BOMI –CAPE MOUNT HIGHWAY. THIS INTERACTION LED TO THE
PROVISION OF CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR THE HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN IN
THAT VILLAGE AND ITS SURROUNDINGS.
TODAY, AS ONE OF ITS OUTREACH PROGRAM, THE FIRST UNITED
METHODIST CHURCH MONROVIA, THE REUNION AND OUR COVENANT
CHURCHES HAS CONSTRUCTED THE FUMC JJ ROBERTS SIAFFA-KEH UNITED
METHODIST SCHOOL (TEN CLASS ROOM), ERECTED A WELL FOR THE
COMMUNITY AND HAS BROKEN GROUNDS FOR THE ERECTION OF A
RESIDENCE FOR THE PRINCIPAL OF THAT SCHOOL. FUNDS RAISED AT THIS
2013 REUNION WILL BE USED FOR THAT PROJECT.

COMMUNITY MEMBERS APPRECIATE THE WELL
Community member, David Brown, interviewed by LWI Liberia and who stated, “The old water source
was not safe for the school and the community. Due to this issue, members of the school and the
community were fetching water from the creek for cooking, washing and drinking. The school has a
hand pump that was not serving them to the fullest during the dry season. Many thanks to God for this
new water source because it will serve the school and the community. May God richly bless the donors
for their great support in the name of Jesus Christ.”

PETER JERU UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
THE FIRESTONE PLANTATION HOUSED THE PETER JERU UNITED METHODIST
CHURCH FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
DUE TO THE PLANTATION’S EXPENSION, THE AUTHORIES REQUEST THE
CHURCH TO BE REMOVED FROM THE GROUNDS OF THE PLANTATION.
FIRST UNITED METHODIST MONROVIA WAS REQUESTED BY BISHOP JOHN G.
INNIS TO ADOPT THE PETER JERU UNITED METHODIST CHURCH.
THE NEED FOR A MODERN CHURCH BUILDING WAS IMMEDIATELY
RECOGONIZED . TODAY, MORE THAN ONE HUNDRED LIBERIANS OF THE
COTTONTREE HARBEL AREA NOW WORSHIP IN A MORDEN CHURCH
