An Initiative of Government of India
Implemented by Forward Markets Commission
and Five National Commodity Exchanges
(NMCE, NCDEX, MCX, ICEX, ACE)
Electronic Price Ticker Boards
Introduction
 Forward Market Commission (FMC) : is a regulatory authority which is
overseen by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Govt. of
India.
 Introduces several regulatory measures to instill discipline in the market.
 Exchanges : NMCE, NCDEX, MCX, ICEX & ACE are the recognized National
Commodity Exchanges in India.
 Trading platform - around 100 different Agri & Non-Agri commodities.
 System & trading practices are comparable to the best in the world.
 The futures prices discovered on these Exchanges have increasingly become
a referral price in the market.
 AGMARKNET : Ministry of Agriculture has launched central sector scheme of
Agricultural Marketing Information Network (AGMARKNET) to link
important Agri markets of India & State Agri Marketing Board.
 More than 2000 mandis are regularly reporting price related data

Objectives of the Price Dissemination Project
 Dissemination of price information (both spot and
futures) for agricultural commodities through price
display board in identified Mandis.
 Provide information in Regional Language for easy
understanding to common man.
 Display the price information of Agri. commodities
relevant to state.

 Vendors to be appointed by the Exchanges for
implementation of the project.
PRICE DISSEMINATION PROJECT
 It is proposed to install 1000 Ticker Boards in various APMCs across
the country before 31st March 2011.
 The Ticker Boards would be 2 line ticker Board, so that the Spot
Price Information of APMCs can also be displayed along with the
Futures Price of National Exchanges.
 The Project is funded by National Commodity Exchanges and the
Govt. of India.
 The total cost of each Ticker Boards is approx. Rs. 1 Lac.

Exchanges & Spot data from AGMARKNET
Hardware & Network arrangement for data storing, compiling,
processing & disseminating.
Development of remote & central site software as per project
requirement.
Identification & appointment of vendor for project
implementation.
Conducting awareness programmes
APMC’s Responsibilities
 Arrangement of infrastructure :
 Sufficient space for installation of Display Board
 power supply for display board
 PC with Internet connectivity for sourcing & displaying





Security and safeguarding.
Appoint single point of contact for the project.
Issue of No Objection Letter for entry purpose.
Monitoring and Reporting.
Information/Infrastructure Needed from/at APMCs
1. The Commodities which are required to be displayed at
above Mandis.
2. Mandi address along with contact details.
3. Proper location at Mandi for installation of ticker board
(10 * 3 sq feet space).
4. Provisioning of Power points at the location where
Ticker Board has to be installed along with other
administrative assistance.
Information/Infrastructure Needed from/at APMCs
5. PC with 256 MB RAM and Windows Operating System Windows 2000 or above. UPS power back up is desirable.
6. Internet connection with minimum 64 kbps.
7. Security of the Ticker Board should be taken care by
concerned Mandi.
8. A person may be identified at Mandi for regular reporting
about the working of Ticker Board, and for the various
operations like Switching the Board ON & OFF.
