Background
• In February 2011 Leeds City Council announced the plans to
reduce opening hours at the baths with potential future closure.
• BARCA-Leeds with West Leeds MP Rachel Reeves and Cllr Ted
Hanley organised a public meeting to discuss what this will mean
to the local community and how it can be prevented.
• BARCA involvement was to talk to the group about the
community taking over the baths with our support.

Friends of Bramley Baths

In May 2011 Friends of Bramley Baths was formed with people
represented from BARCA and the local community.
•
June 2011 LCC put out an invitation for expressions of interest and FOBB
through BARCA declared an expression of interest.
•
In January 2012 FOBB submitted a full 100 page business plan to LCC
with full market research, 5 year budgets, sensitivity analysis, vision,
mission and purpose, and need for the project
•
In May 2012 the council said yes to the business plan and also that they
would support FOBB in the first couple of years if we got into financial
difficulty.
•
FOBB are in the process of setting up a BENCOM with the baths due to
open in January 2013.
