Cognados
As you learned earlier in the year, cognates are
words that share similar meanings and spellings in
two or more languages.
When reading in Spanish, it’s helpful to look for
cognates and use them to guess the meaning of
what you’re reading.
But watch out for false cognates!
For example librería means bookstore, not library
and embarazada means pregnant, not
embarrassed.
Look at this list of Spanish words, paying special
attention to prefixes and suffixes. Can you guess the
meaning of each word?
