“Abide”
If you abide in Me and My words abide in

done for you. By this is My Father glorified,
that you bear much fruit and prove (lit. =
become) to be My disciples. (John 15:7-8)
The Cost of Discipleship
Priority of Relationship
“Hate father & mother”
If anyone comes to Me, and does not hate his
own father and mother and wife and children
and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his
own life, he cannot be My disciple.

Whoever does not carry his own cross
and come after Me cannot be My
disciple. (Luke 14:27)

For which one of you, when he wants
to build a tower, does not first sit down

Final Thoughts & Application
• Discipleship is serious business.
• Jesus must be first of all.
• There is a cost to become a
disciple of Jesus.
• What is preventing
me from fully
following Jesus?
Come to Me, all who are
weary and heavy-laden, and
I will give you rest. Take My
yoke upon you and learn
from Me, for I am gentle and
humble in heart, and you will
find rest for your souls.
For My yoke is easy and
My burden is light.
(Matthew 11:28-30)
