2. Writer’s Workshop
Writer’s Workshop
• Units of writing will include
personal memoir/narrative,
literary response, persuasive
writing, business letter and
research report.
• Please email me if you are
interested in volunteering to help
read student writing
• Training will be required

2. Vocabulary
• A class set of books is available, or you
may purchase one online
• The tab on my website has games and
puzzles
• Tests will be given on a regular basis
• Vocabulary will also be taught to
enhance the reading in class
3. Accelerated Reader
• Each student will have a green
log folder
• Students are expected to read
an average of 1 hour each day
• Computer tests are taken at
school on each book
The green AR folder serves as a
hall pass during AR to go to the
computer lab and library. The
folder also contains student
reading logs, and latest reading
level report.
4. Common Core Standards
• Provide a clear vision for students,
educators and parents in all states
• Prepare students with the
knowledge and critical thinking
skills they need to succeed in
college and work
• Ensure consistent expectations
regardless of a student’s zip code
