Character Sketch of Rowan
Rowan is a twelve year old boy who lives in the tiny village
of Heaton. He is small and rather scrawny for his age. His
messy, curly brown hair looks like a mop on his tiny face and
his thinness makes him look like a walking skeleton. His
brown trousers are old and patchy, where they have been
repaired many times. His red jumper, covered in holes,
hangs on his bony shoulders.
The people in the village poke fun of Rowan. The children
call him a weakling because he never stands up for himself
and always runs away. However, Rowan is the gentlest of all
the children in the village. He is the only child that can
approach any of the farm animals without scaring them
away because he has a soothing touch and a calming voice.
