Hot Air Balloons
Tints and Shades
Tint = LIGHT
When you add white to a color, to make
it lighter, or use more water.
Shade = DARK
When you add black to a color, to make
it darker… OR… you swirl around on
the paint color for a long time to make
it dark.
Today we are going to draw hot air
balloons with 3D baskets. Then, when
we paint them we will use “tints” and
“shades” with paint.
What 3D shape does the basket under
the hot air balloon look like?
Day 1 – Pencil, Sharpie, Paint the Sky
Day 2 – Paint the balloons.
