Who do people say that I am?
Disciples Answer
John the Baptist, others say Elijah, and
some say one of the prophets.
Jesus’ Second Question
Who Do You Say That I Am?
Peter’s Confession:
You Are The Christ!
Christ: from Greek word ‘christos’.
‘christos’: from Hebrew word for Messiah.
Messiah: ‘anointed one’.
Jesus Charges Disciples To
Remain Silent
Why?
They know he is the Christ but not what it
means, or what he must do.
Plain & Clear Revelation

Rejected, be Killed, and Rise Again.

him.
 This is a strong rebuke from Peter to
Jesus.

the concept of a ‘suffering messiah’.

sincere.

Peter.

 Jesus saw Peter’s suggestion as a
temptation.
What Was Peter’s Main Issue?
 Peter
did not have his mind set on

and things of man.
