What is Custom?
Opportunity to Add Friends
Scroll through list of potential “friends”.
For those you would like to be “friends”
with on Facebook, click “Add friend” and a
“friend request” will be sent to them.
When they accept, you will be “friends”
and able to view their page, and they can
view yours.
What is a Profile Picture?
Your profile picture will be visible



On your Facebook page
Anytime you comment on a page
Anytime you comment on a post
What is a post? A post can be words, a picture,
or video that a person puts on their page.
Their “friends” are able to comment on, or
“Like” their posts.

What is Facebook Timeline?
Your timeline is your collection of the
photos, stories, and experiences that
you’ve posted that tell your story. Some
timeline items include:
Add a cover photo
Edit your basic information
Jump to stories from your past
View a log of your Facebook activity.

Star stories you want to highlight.
Add life events.
Update your status.
View & add photos.
Share your app activity.
See highlights from each month.
What are Notifications?
Notifications are how you know when





A “close friend” posts.
You are tagged in a post.
Someone “likes” or comments on your post,
or a post you commented on.
Someone has messaged you.
You have received a friend request and action
is required.
Additional Things You
Can Do with Facebook…
Sharing posts.

Posts that have pictures, videos, or links have
a “share” button that you can click on to share
the post on your own page.
Tagging….no, we are not talking graffiti!

You can tag yourself or your friends in photos
or posts. You can also add a location and
date to photos and video.
Additional Things You
Can Do with Facebook…
Messaging.

Click on the two dialogue boxes on the top left
of the page. You can send a private message
to someone here, similar to email. You can
send the same message to multiple people. If
you find that you were included in a group
message you’ll be notified each time
someone responds. There is a way for you to
opt out of the conversation so you no longer
receive those notifications.

Chat

Privately message with “friends” who are online.
Apps & Games on Facebook


You can use apps to listen to music with friends,
share what you’re reading, play games, and more!
A note about apps, they are created by outside
developers and are supposed to comply with
Facebook policy.
Adding New Pages

Create a page for a group you belong to or an interest
that you have.
