• The VLD contains the comprehensive patristic
records of the Vetus Latina Institut in Beuron.
• Study of the Latin versions of the Bible preceding
the Vulgate.
• Due to the success of the Vulgate, the direct textual
tradition of the Vetus Latina is meager.
• The basic sources are the biblical citations or
allusions found within the writings of the Church
Fathers.
