Purpose of an Interactive
Notebook
The purpose of the interactive notebook is to enable
students to organize, process information, and
develop life-long study skills in a creative way.
They are used for class notes as well as for other
activities where the student will be asked to
express his/her own ideas and process the
information presented in class. Requirements vary
from teacher to teacher and is set up according
to the directions of the teacher. Some go
left/right, others go right/left, and still others
go sequential.

The EOCT Math interactive notebook
will be a portfolio of notes and
examples as well as data on your
learning and growth as you prepare to
take the EOCT in May.
Left Side – Right Side
Orientation
• The Left side is “left” for you. This
is the side that you can use to show
me your creativity.
• The Right side is “Restricted” and
contains teacher given EOCT Math
examples.
Left Side
• The left side belongs to you. It
contains your notes and examples. On
this page you may include diagrams,
cartoons, drawings, poems, foldables,
etc.
