Chinese martial arts originated during the
Xia Dynasty by the Yellow Emperor Huangdi.

to improve the country’s health, morale,
and defense.

have used for generations to focus their mind and
train their body.
• The soldiers also used martial arts for hand to hand
combat
• Hook swords
• Chinese spear
• Chinese staff
• Tai Chi
• Kung Fu
Tai Chi is a form of Chinese martial arts that is
practiced by many people because it is
healthy, and it focuses on defense.
Kung Fu is another form of Chinese martial arts. Kung Fu started in
the Shaolin Temple, where monks would practice Kung Fu to stay
healthy, and learn different self-defense techniques during their
pursuit for enlightenment.
The Chinese people placed great value in the practice of
Kung Fu because they felt it taught them how to be
respectful, patient, humble, and moral.
