Improvement 1
P
The thing that I would improve is the ecological validity of the study,
because Dement and Kleitman’s study was carried out in a sleep
laboratory which is not a natural setting.
E
I would do this by… Monitoring participants in their own home. I
would have a doctor visit the participants’ houses and connect the
EEG equipment in order to record their sleep stages in their natural
home environment.
C
A strength of this change is that the results would be more ecologically
valid than…because I have….
This is a strength because my results will be more representative
of…therefore we can…

• Is it reliable?
• What are the issues with it?
• Are there any examples of when it has not worked?
• In your opinion, should it be used as evidence in court?
