Material of Divination Blocks
 The divination blocks are made of
wood or bamboo and cut into the
shape of crescent.
 Each block is flat on the one side,
known as “yang”, and round on
the other, known as “yin”.
Origin
 Long time ago, people used
to cast shells( a kind of
ancient coin) to request
answer from deity. Now,
shells turn into wooden
blocks we are using.
Meaning
 Yes: different sides, meaning god agrees.
 Confused: both sides are flat, meaning god
doesn’t understand what you are asking for
and is also laughing at you. Or just the time
hasn’t come yet.
 No: both sides are round, meaning god
doesn’t allow your request.
Steps
 1st: circle a pair of divination blocks around the censor 3 times.
 2nd: kneel down before god and say your name, birthday,
address, and question( must be a yes-no question)
 3rd: hold divination blocks in your palm, then cast them to the
ground to see the answer from god. Generally, you could ask
god the same question 3 times, but some say it is forcing god to
make agreement to your request.
