behind said impulse buy?
Does the name and focus of a product make
the target audience want the product?

What is an Impulse Buy? What Motivates an Impulse Buy (III Parts)?

Impulse Buy – An unplanned decision to buy a
product or service, made just before a
purchase.

The vast majority of impulse buyers who do it
more often, have a gene called “Impulse buying
tendency,” and although may seem innocent,
here are three main reasons to prove otherwise.

The first is that the person with said gene is
more social, status-conscious, and more
concerned with their image. Therefore the buyer
will buy as a way to look good in the eyes of
others (friends, family, peers, etc.)

Second, they tend to experience more
anxiety than most, causing difficulty in
controlling their emotions, which may play a
part in making it harder to resist the
emotional urges to impulsively spend money

Lastly, impulse buyers tend to experience less
happiness, so they may buy to increase their
mood (materialism)

Overall, all of those three things play a part of
motivating an impulse buy, and for the ones who do,
are less likely to consider the consequences of their
spending (in other words, they just want to have it)
the following two bullet points have two extra reasons
of the motivation behind impulsively buying:

People who shop for fun are more likely to buy
impulsively than people who don’t

The connection between a consumer and a product
(and sometimes the brand/company) can play a huge
part as well…

In this Section: How you can buy impulsively even if you are the ”Average
Joe,” or the average person.

For all of you who think that “I’ll never be
drawn into an impulse buy, I’m completely
normal,” please, stop thinking magically, as
Mr. Kimball would say… because you can still
get drawn into an impulse buy, and in the
next couple slides, I’ll tell you why and how
this can and possibly will, happen to you


Marketing is all about Public Relations, and
the ability to advertise, make you want to
pick up the phone and call now, "operators
are standing by,” or go to the store, and even
online, to buy the product
You think marketing is easy, it’s far more
sophisticated than it is, I could talk all day
about what it take to sell a product very, very,
smoothly…

Okay, on to the point, and the point is that
there is a whole career based on the
psychology of consumers, and you can get a
whole bunch of money if you make the right
moves and be able to persuade the customer
to buy, buy, buy!

The seller’s motivation is quite obvious,
really, and it is probably no surprise too, the
Seller’s motivation is capitalism’s most
known product, currency/money, and in our
case, the dollar (USD)
