How to be a MOON PARENT….
Five Disciplines
The POWER Of
What is Parenting?
Parenting is:
• Loving children without any condition.
• Observing children without any prejudice.
• Encouraging children without any comparison.
• Empathizing with children without any
suggestion.
• Guiding children without any expectation.
Parenting is perennial
• Parenting has a beginning but has
no end.
• A parent has to be a pillar of
patience, encouragement and
discipline for the first two decades.
• A parent has to be a reservoir of
love and care forever.
Moon Parenting is crescendo presence
• Moon Parents follow the phases of Moon .
• Their presence in the beginning years of their child’s life
resembles the full moon phase
• As the child grows up, his freedom rises while the presence of
parents reduces, just the way the Moon enters its waning
gibbous phase.
• By the advent of teenage , the child becomes more decisive
and parents start to guide subtly, resembling a half moon.
• During college days, the child becomes more self reliant and
parents become shock absorbers in this waning crescent
phase.
• Presence of parents reach a new moon phase when the child
settles down professionally.
Moon Parenting is crescendo presence
Parents enter the life of their child again when he
needs them or become a parent himself, just the
way the Moon enters its waxing crescent phase.
Their presence should increase further as grand
parents, enriching the lives of their grandchildren.
They become a wonderful bridge between their
children and grandchildren during the waxing
gibbous phase.
With the right set of values , children let their
parents reach the full moon phase in their twilight
years.

Parenting is a responsibility, a gift
• For Moon Parents, Parenting is a big
responsibility but a bigger gift.
• They are responsible for fulfilling their needs but
not all their desires.
• They are responsible for making them self
confident and self reliant but not to make them
invincible and entitled.
• BEING A PARENT is a gift of nature to the parents.
BECOMING A PARENT is a gift they give to
themselves and their children.
Parenting is an emotion
• An emotion is an energy which makes the mind
work.
• Moon Parents possess this emotion which gives
them the strength to consistently love,
encourage, observe, empathize with and guide
the children , irrespective of the children’s
response.
• Emotion of a moon parent towards his child is
never similar to the emotion of a child towards
his moon parent.
Joyful Copycat Phase
Children copy what
they see.
Children see what
we make them see.
Blotting paper Phase
Children absorb whatever comes
their way- Approval, Appreciation
or Criticism- from parents,
teachers, friends or anyone and
perceive themselves accordingly.
