Lync - FAQ
•
•
•
•
Most customers have “free IM&P from
Microsoft this comes with the “Standard” CAL
(client access lic), this is why lots of
customers think Lync is “free”
Lync Enterprise Voice requires “Enterprise
and Plus CAL’s costing US$123 each ie.
US$248
The UCA Client DOES NOT require the
additional CAL’s to function, ie the customer
integrating Avaya and Lync saves US248 per
user
Avaya’s client “turns off” some native Lync
features tying the customer to Avaya’s own
video and conferencing products, the UCA
Client DOES NOT do this
•
Avaya has it’s own free client that requires Aura
6.2
• Avaya client “turns off” key Lync features
that customers want, forcing either to buy
AAC8 for conferencing, and Scopia for
video. Most often at this stage the
customer decides to “rip & replace” the
entire Avaya estate to go “full” Lync
