Looking at Act One, Scene One
JULIET
PLOT RECAP
Put the following plot points in order; number them from 1-12.
The Montague and the
Capulets start a brawl.
Benvolio tries to stop
them but Tybalt joins
in.
Romeo and Benvolio plan
to gatecrash the
Capulet Ball.
Romeo and Juliet are
married in secret by
Friar Lawrence.
Romeo takes poison and
dies. Juliet wakes up
and sees Romeo dead,
she stabs herself with
Romeo’s dagger.
Later that day Tybalt
challenges Romeo to a
fight. Romeo refuses so
Mercutio steps in and
fights Tybalt instead.
Tybalt kills Mercutio.
Later Romeo climbs into
the Orchard and up
Juliet’s balcony. They
decide to get married
the next day.
At the ball Romeo and
Juliet meet and kiss.
Tybalt sees Romeo and
wants to fight him.
Capulet stops Tybalt.
Juliet decides to fake
her death with a
sleeping drug. Romeo
hears Juliet had died
and goes to see her,
missing a message
telling him she is faking
it.
Romeo then kills Tybalt.
The Prince banishes
Romeo to Mantua.
The Prince arrives and
warns that anyone
caught fighting will be
punished with death.
The Montagues and the
Capulets agree to stop
fighting.
Romeo goes to see
Juliet before going to
Mantua. Juliet is told
she has to marry Paris.

When Tybalt enters the scene he is feeling argumentative
and wants to start a fight with the Montagues.
This can be shown in the quote “What, drawn, and talk of
peace! I hate the word, As I hate hell, all Montagues, and
thee. Have at thee, coward!”
Tybalt is telling Benvolio how much he hates him and how
much he wants to fight. He then challenges Benvolio to a
fight. This shows how argumentative Tybalt is.
