Writing is like math, there's a formula!
1. Main Point
1. Supporting Details

1. Conclusion
Start at the top : ME
1. M - Main Point
a. What are you going to say...?
1. E - Explain
a. Why should your reader care about what you
have to say...?
ME + LE
1. L - Link
a. Support your main point with some sort of
concrete evidence...
2. E - Explain
a. Explain how this link supports your main
point.
ME + LE + LE
1. L - Link
a. Support your main point with ANOTHER
sort of concrete evidence...
2. E - Explain
a. Explain how this NEW link supports your
main point.
ME + LE + LE + C
1. C - Conclusion
a. "Restate" your main point

Show the reader how you made your point

The Final Step
• Take what you've outlined and put it into
proper paragraph format...
