What is the relationship between the
Silk Road and the Han Empire?
Explain?
• The Silk Road allowed the Han Empire to
trade with people in the Mediterranean
Region. This trade brought wealth to
the Han. The Han then expanded the
Empire to control as much of the Silk
Road as possible. This is why the Han
Empire was larger than the Chin Empire.
Brainstorm: Prior to the Silk Road, why
was China isolated from the other
cultures and empires that had
developed in Eurasia?
• Due to the Himalayan
Mountains, and the Gobi
Dessert, travel to China from
the West and North was very
difficult.
