



Scarlet fever is an illness that develops in
some people who have strep throat. Also
known as scarlatina, scarlet fever features
a bright red rash that covers most of the
body. Scarlet fever is almost always
accompanied by a sore throat and a high
fever.

It was the site of the headquarters of the
Continental Army under George
Washington from December 1777 to June
1778 during the American Revolution. The
encampment was subjected to severe
