new start found in Jesus Christ.
Why people don’t pray?
1. Not sure how to pray
2. Distracted while trying to pray
3. Think requests are too small for God
4. Not sure prayer will really make a difference

The First Thing
How do we talk to God?
Raw honesty
Exodus 5:22-23
Moses returned to the LORD and said,
‘Why, Lord, why have you brought
trouble on this people? Is this why you
sent me? Ever since I went to Pharaoh to
speak in your name, he has brought
trouble on this people, and you have not
rescued your people at all.’

Raw honesty
Matthew 6:5-7
“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray
standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by
others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when
you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father,
who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will
reward you. And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans,
for they think they will be heard because of their many words.”

Him, for He cares for you.”

Pray Until Something Happens
Luke 18:1-8 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and
not give up. He said: ‘In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what
people thought. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, “Grant me
justice against my adversary.” ‘For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, “Even
though I don’t fear God or care what people think, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will
see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!”’And the Lord said,
‘Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who
cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get
justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?’
