E.G

Data protection act 1998 sets out rules for
organisations when they collect and use peoples
personal data. The purpose of this legislation is to
protect customers from the unfair use of their
personal details. The act limits the amount and
type of data Tesco can collect and use in their
marketing. On the club card application form Tesco
have included a section on data protection which
the customer must complete and sign for Tesco to
use and pass on their data. If a customer wants
Tesco to send them offers(marketing) on Tesco
only products they must select this option
