What Is a Protocol?
Structure of agreed-upon guidelines for
a conversation




A small team of educators meet together weekly,
biweekly, or monthly as agreed to by the group.
One teacher brings an assessment and 6─10 pieces
of the accompanying student work.
Another teacher, the facilitator, gets the discussion
going and makes sure that the guidelines and agenda
for the selected protocol are followed throughout the
session.
Another teacher, the recorder, tracks the
conversation.
