• Each class that you take and pass, you
get one course credit.
• If you do not pass a class, you do not get
credit for the class…

EXAMPLE...
• A student made the following grades
after her first year of high school:
– A, B, A, A, B, C, B, A (letter grades)
– 4, 3, 4, 4, 3, 2, 3, 4 (points per unit)
– 4+3+4+4+3+2+3+4 = 27 points total
– to get her GPA for that year, divide the total
number of points by the number of classes:
• 27 divided by 8 = 3.375 GPA
WEIGHTED COURSES

High School Registration
 The high school registration process will be done using
paper/pencil (and eventually Power School) this year for all 4
high schools.
 Today, I will provide you with a Course Curriculum Guide &
school specific course information (LHS, JTH, NHHS & AHS)
based on your district school for next year.
 I encourage you to start thinking about which electives you
would like to take in 9th grade (as well as alternates) by using the
Student Registration Worksheet provided today.
 Teachers will compile their recommendations for your core
academic classes, based on your performance in their classes
this year.
 Turn your Student Registration Worksheet in by Friday,
February 28 to me (Mrs. Demolina)
 A list of academic and elective classes will then be printed for
each of you to take home (based on teacher recommendations
and your elective choices), to discuss with your parents, and to
send back with parent signatures if everything looks okay.
