Greece was an unlikely civilization that has
had a major impact on later civilizations. In
addition, it has inspired and captivated the
minds of people for thousands of years.
Ex. Democracy, Greek Mythology, Science,
Mathematics, Philosophy, 300, etc.

Greek culture can be traced back to Minoan
and Mycenaean civilization, which were
believed to be Greek civilization, but has been
proven to be distinct civilizations that
influenced Greek culture.



Minoan civilization developed on the island of
Crete.
Minoan civilization reached its height of power
between 1750 B.C. and 1500 B.C.
The success of Minoan civilization was based
on trade. Minoan civilization had lots of
contact with civilizations of Egypt and the
Fertile Crescent.



Mycenaean civilization dominated the Aegean
world from about 1400 B.C. to 1200 B.C.
Mycenaean civilization developed its
civilization on mainland Greece.
Mycenaean civilization was similar to Minoan
civilization in the following ways:




Traded with Egypt and Fertile Crescent
