Aztecs
PURPOSE:
In this PowerPoint we learn about
the Aztecs. We will learn what they
did and where they lived.
Montezuma
-9th Aztec emperor
-Welcomed the Spanish in Tenochtitlan
-He was emperor from 1502-1520
-He was killed by the Spanish
-The Spanish thought he was no use
-He died on June 1520
Chinampas
-Floating gardens
-Built to grow crops on Lake Texcoco’s
water
-To make a chinampa they had to make
something that’s called a wattle
-Trees were planted at the corners
-Arranged in a grid
-Rested only a few feet above water
Central Mexico
- That’s where they lived
- Lived there until it was taken over in the
16 century
- Society of fierce warriors
- Conquered many people surrounding
them
- Built their island in the middle of a lake
- Help protect them from attacks
