Multiplying Fractions
Essential Understanding:
• To multiply a fraction by a fraction, you simply multiply
the numerators, then the denominators.
• To multiply a fraction by a whole number or a mixed
number, you must first change the number to an improper
fraction. Then, multiply the numerators and the
denominators.
Write each product in simplest form.

Dividing Fractions
Essential Understanding:
• To divide a fraction by a fraction, simply flip the
second fraction and multiply.
• To divide a fraction by a whole number or a mixed
number, change the number to an improper fraction.
