Context
❖
ENW AUGent: ExpertiseNetWork of the Teacher
Trainers Institutions of the Ghent University Association
❖
Ambition: in close collaboration with different
stakeholders contributing
❖
to the quality of teacher training programs
❖
to the further professionalization of teacher trainers
By starting up and facilitating innovative projects
Project ICT competences of teacher
trainers
❖
interENW/RP project with ENW AUGent as responsible
institution. Other ENWs engage as part of the Sounding
Board (& ICT design teams)
❖
Phase 1 (2012-13): development of the Flemish ICT
development profile for teacher educators
❖
Phase 2 (2014-15): ICT design teams
ICT Design Teams
ICT Design Teams: teams of teacher trainers/experts who go
collectively through a design process in order to deliver a
qualitative product. The design teams aim (1) to contribute to the
further professionalisation of teacher trainers and (2) to stimulate
the cooperation between different actors in the field of education
with regard to ICT competences
❖
From at least three different institutions
❖
Funding: 10.000€ per design team, of which max. 5000€ for the
team leader
❖
Team members participate on a voluntary basis!
Conditions
❖
Bottom-up process
❖
Teacher educators participate on voluntary basis, yet
once engaged in the design team, they are expected to
be committed to the project and to promote the
findings/results among their colleagues
❖
Application form is a starting point and guideline, the
design team are (quite) free to follow their own route

Discussion points
❖
❖
❖
How to keep the teacher trainers engaged?
❖
I’m so sorry. But I don’t have the time to engage in the project
any longer…
❖
As a teacher trainer, ICT integration and/or innovative media
is not my core task.
Bottom-up
❖

How to disclose the knowledge & learning materials
generated during the design teams: which format,...
