What I want to cover
Why SAVA ?– Our pedigree
What are the new qualifications?
Why two of them?
What do they look like and how will they be delivered by SAVA ?
SAVA – our pedigree
o Established in 1999, and
conceived by RICS and ISVA
o Response to:oDispatches
oRaise the Roof
oAn accreditation scheme to
oversee the quality of RICS
Level 2 “Home Buyers
Surveys”
SAVA – our pedigree
o Government research

oDrove the development of
o Home Condition Report
(HCR)
oHome Inspector National
Occupational Standards
oDevelopment of the HI
qualification
SAVA – our pedigree
o Became part of NES in 2003
o Offered the Diploma in
Home Inspection, and became
a Certification Scheme for
HCRs
o Significant blow in 2006
when the HCR became a
voluntary component of the
HIP
o In response SAVA created
the Home Condition Survey –
similar to the HCR, but sold to
home buyers
Why now?
1.
There is a shortage of mortgage valuation
surveyors with no established way to becoming
qualified. SAVA surveyors and DEAs have been asking us to
provide a route to become valuers.
2. There is a demand for a more efficient and
structured route to becoming Assoc RICS.
3.
No route for new people to join SAVA or BRE to
offer the HCS. Since the HI Diploma is no longer available.
