Temple College

Is a self-paced, individualized program based upon a pre-assessment that addresses the specific academic needs of each student.

The Center evaluates college readiness and a variety of instructional options in order to address the different learning styles of the students.

Instructors and tutors are available to assist students and prospective students in improving basic reading, math, writing and study skills needed to do college level work.

The Center offers preparation for college placement testing, allied health and nursing entrance testing.

Services and adaptive technology are available to assist students with specific learning or physical disabilities.

The Center is located in the Instructional Services Center, Room 108.

Student curricula is individualized based on individual preassessment and is based upon the student’s needs, weaknesses and strengths. Re-assessment is performed after 40 hours of classroom time.

Prepares students with the knowledge and skills to successfully take the GED exam.

Receive skills in communication, information processing, critical thinking and reading, and problem solving.

Assists students entering the workplace or continuing in higher education.

Located in the Instructional Services Center, Room 108. Belton and

Taylor facilities are also available.

C2C offers students an opportunity to develop and evaluate career goals and decisions by:

Providing tools to identify programs of study that align with their interests and regional employment needs and trends as well as wage and benefit information

Assisting students in researching what education and training these careers require and where it can be obtained

Assisting students fill out college applications, FAFSA, job applications, and develop resumes

Providing classes, group exercises and role-playing opportunities examining topics such as employment interviews, college life, study skills, test taking, etc.

Classes are offered to provide qualifying foreign students with information on:

The qualifications to become a US citizen

Overview of the Naturalization process, and

Basic civics, history and government classes to prepare for the citizenship test

A follow-up Naturalization Workshop is offered to assist students with:

Naturalization Forms

Application assistance

Application review by an immigration attorney

Provides math assistance to students in developmental and credit mathematics courses.

The Math Tutoring Lab is located in Room 1117 of the Math and Biomedical Sciences building.

Provides advice and resources at every stage of the writing process.

Addresses the needs and concerns of the writer.

Provides face-to-face consultations and workshops for writers in all disciplines.

Enhances the writer’s understanding of a variety of issues, such as purpose, audience, style and conventions.

Helps writers develop the confidence to make effective writing choices in any writing situation.

Federally funded grant-based program designed to help eligible students graduate or transfer from Temple College and gain acceptance into a four-year college or university.

Established by Congress in 1965 to ensure equal educational opportunity for all Americans, regardless of race, ethnicity, or economic circumstance.

An estimated two million students have graduated from college with the special assistance and support of our nation’s TRIO Programs.

Students in TRIO Programs are more than twice as likely to remain in college than those students from similar backgrounds who did not participate in the program.

Temple College students may qualify for the program in several ways:

If neither parent has a B.A. or B.S. degree from a four-year college or university;

If the student has a disability; or

If the student satisfies low-income criteria set by the federal government.

Smarthinking is an online tutoring service that is FREE to all

Temple College students. Smarthinking offers tutoring in a variety of subjects including Mathematics, English, and

Science. They even offer tutoring 24 hours a day 7 days a week for most Math courses.

This program provides free, professional tutorial assistance to students who are majoring in career and technical education programs,

Helps students succeed in the campus environment and make the transition from school to work, and

Is funded through the federal Carl Perkins Grant program
