10år med
I ni år har artistar me beundrar laga Frelsesarmeens juleplate.
Det er ei stor ære å bidra på den tiande. Og så i Afrika! Dette kontinentet
som boblar over av musikk fascinerer oss djupt og inderleg.
Det var svært inspirerande for oss å få reise til Kenya og spele
inn desse sangane. Her bidrar, i tillegg til oss skarve bleikansikt,
eit av frelsesarmékorene i Nairobi, eit kor av funksjonshemma barn
i Joytown/Thika, kenyanske musikarar og ei muslimsk popstjerne.
Slikt blir det uforgløymelege minner av.
Others gjenspeglar Frelsesarmeen sitt fundament. Desse menneska
rundt omkring i heile verda som vier livet sitt for å hjelpe dei som
treng det. Me bøyer oss i støvet. Takk for at de valgte oss.

En ser ikke rullestoler når barna i Joytown synger
Barna på Joytown i Kenya kom skranglede mot oss på ett, to
eller alle fire. På krykker, stolper, og i rullestoler sammensatt av
plastikk og rustne skrothauger tok de oppstilling for å synge en
velkomstsang. Rullestolene og alt rundt omkring ble strøket fra
netthinna. Det var bare å gi seg over.
Det var ikke et komma uten håp.
Det er noen år siden nå, men tonene har det fortsatt med å
avlegge besøk. Så mens minnene banket på sendte jeg en mail til
Jan Vincent. Fortalte om barna, opplevelsen som hadde fillerista
meg, om linken mot Frelsesarmeens DNA: Others. Neste morgen lå
skissen på sangen klar. Og jeg visste at ingenting skulle få hindre
et prosjekt å bli født.
Om du gjennom Others hører en flik av opplevelsen jeg hadde
den gang, er jeg fornøyd. For barna i Joytown skal bare ikke synge
forgjeves! Det er deres rett at vi låner dem øret og slipper dem inn.
I vår konkrete støtte, i våre bønner, i vår kamp for Others.
