Part1: The joy of laughing at a funny story is
universal, probably as old as language itself.
Universal：
普遍的，全体的，通用的
e.g. Nowadays, a credit card
has universal application.
What is it that makes a story or
a joke funny? 该句为强调句。
1)强调句型：It is\was …that …
可强调主语，宾语，或状语。强调人
时用who or whom.
2)强调宾语或者状语时用that .
3)强调原因状语从句时用because
引导状语从句、但不能强调since and
as 引导的状语从句。
Part2:The author likes humor
