Pioneer areas will act as exemplars, demonstrating the use of ambitious and innovative
approaches to efficiently deliver person-centred and co-ordinated care across the whole of their
local health, public health and care and support system for the benefit of patients and service
users.

Expanding the Pioneers programme
• We know that there are excellent examples of joined up care happening in
different ways up and down the country. Now, one year on from our
original announcement of the Pioneers programme, we want to expand
this programme to encompass more of these areas, from which the rest of
the country can learn and be inspired
• Up to ten areas will be selected to showcase their examples of best
practice and ensure valuable learning can be shared across the country
• An independent panel will be set up chaired by Jennifer Dixon from the
Health Foundation. Anyone wanting more information can email
