Overpopulation
 Mao Zedong encouraged massive population growth to
become a “great power”
 Now China hosts approx 1/5 of the worlds population
 Solution to over population and resource depletion?
 Adopt a one child policy (1980)
 Cash rewards, free medical care, education and housing
opportunities were provided for people who took on this
policy
