Scope of Engagement (1)
1. To identify, review, revise, and provide guidance in the
usage of preferred practices for monitoring and evaluation
of the activities of National Trachoma Programs and their
progress towards elimination based on the needs defined
by endemic countries
2. To provide requested advice on the development and
revision of the WHO Trachoma Elimination Monitoring
Form (TEMF)

Scope of Engagement (2)
3. To ensure ICTC database is up-to-date, interpret data,
charting against global objectives and milestones, and
disseminate to Coalition
4. To review global trachoma indicators and milestones,
promoting harmonization in the global community
5. To liaise with the Technical WGs: key indicators and
milestones, review national programs’ progress toward
global trachoma elimination goals, review of best practices,
etc

Priorities for action and timeline
1. Develop a matrix of M&E indicators for SAFE used by national
trachoma programmes (May 2014 – expand upon Nat. Database
indicators as needed)
2. Review of materials from Surgery and WASH groups (May 2014)
3. Pilot indicators in The Trust countries, refine (June or July 2014
rollout)
4. Review and/or drafting of remaining documents for SAFE
strategy monitoring (ongoing, May 2014 – collection period)
5. Update recommendations to the National Database and TEMF
based on #3 (ongoing)
