His childhood • Thomas Jackson was the 3rd child of Judith Beckworth Neale. • He was born on January 20, 1824. • He was orphaned at the age of 7. • His mother had 2 husbands. Later Years • He was a farmer on his uncle’s farm. • He became a school teacher. • In 1842, he was appointed to the United States Military Academy. • He later commanded the “Stonewall Brigade”. • He got his nickname from the His sad death • Jackson led his men at Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. • After coming back from his battlefield, one of his own men accidentally shot him. • He died from pneumonia at Guinea Station on May 10th, 1863.
