The 6 simple steps
to Manage your Popcorn Sale:
1. Decide on Sales Goal per Scout.
2. Decide which components of the Popcorn Sale
your Pack/Troop/Crew wish to do.
3. Decide who/where “Popcorn Central” is for your
Pack/Troop/crew
4. Order & Pick Up your popcorn.
5. Sell!
6. Document Sales & Track Inventory
Decide on Sales Goal per Scout
Take into consideration the following issues:
1. This Year’s Budget
2. This Year’s Roster of Members (vs. last year’s roster)
3. Which components of the Sale your
Pack/Troop/crew is going to do (vs. last year)
a) Take Order
b) Show –N- Deliver
c) Show –N- Sell
d) Online Sales
4. Last Year’s Total Sales (in dollars)
Decide which components of the
Popcorn Sale your P/T/C will do.

Decide who/where “Popcorn Central”
is for your Pack/Troop/crew
.
“Popcorn Central” is the location where all the popcorn
is stored by your P/T/C during the Sale.
A system must be set up which tracks the inventory that
goes out and the money & inventory that comes back.
This is necessary for the following two components of the
Sale:
a) Show –N- Deliver
b) Show –N- Sell

Find out how much popcorn your P/T/C sold last
year. Request a copy of the invoicing.
The invoice is generally broken down into 2 orders,
the first one in Sept & the 2nd one in late October.

c) Include PreSale Take

a) Pick up your P/T/C popcorn at the warehouse on
Friday, September 19, 2014.
b) You must have vehicle(s) larger enough.
c) Volunteer to sort & you get to take your popcorn first.
Order & Pick Up your popcorn
.
1. Popcorn that is picked up on Friday, September 19,
2014 can be used for the following:
a) Pre-Sales (Take Orders from August through early
September)
b) Show –N- Sells
c) Show –N- Deliver
2. Any popcorn that is not sold before the end of
October, can be used to full fill the Take Orders that
are completed by the end of October.
3. Do anything you can to minimize returns – it can cost
your unit $!
Sell, Sell, Sell
1. In August, call stores and parishes to set up Show –
N- Sell days and times.
2. Have a Unit Popcorn Kick-Off Meeting
3. Have Sign-up Sheets available at the Kick-Off
Meeting
a) designate Opening and Closing Captains for
each sale.
or…
b) Have each scout sell from inventory they
checked out
4. Be sure to set up good lines of communication with
your various parent volunteers.
Document Sales & Track Inventory
1. Document Show –N- Sells
2. Collect Take Orders
3. Re-Collect /Document Show –N- Deliver Sales
Other Important Items
1. Saturday, October 25th is the Show –N- Deliver
product return day. Any extra popcorn not needed
to fill your Unit’s Take Order may be returned for
credit. See Policies and Guidelines. 8:30-11 am at
the Warehouse locations.
2. Monday, October 27th is when the Show & Deliver
Account Settlements are due. Unit Take Orders are
due to the Dan Beard Council via Trail’s End website.
3. Friday, November 14th: Pick up your remaining
popcorn at the warehouse.
4. Monday, December 8th: all popcorn payments are
due to the Dan beard Council.
