AUBURN

The Need

9,000

kids are enrolled in the schools in which we have ministry.

Just

1,170

of them are connected to a local church.

Leaving

7,830

or 87% of our local kids unreached.

Young Life’s relational approach to sharing the Gospel is working to reach these kids in a greater number every year.

Our

Mission

Vision: Every adolescent (in Auburn) will have the opportunity to meet Jesus Christ and follow him.

Mission: Introducing teenagers to Jesus Christ and helping them grow in their faith.

Introducing teenagers to

Jesus Christ…

A three-pronged strategy , hinging on relationships between

Young Life leaders and kids.

Contact Work: We’re out there in the world of kids, building real relationships.

Club: The Gospel presented in an attractive and relevant way, with lost kids in mind.

Camp: Exceptional places, outrageous fun, challenging adventure, amazing relationships, and a crystal clear Gospel presentation delivered in a place that allows kids to process.

…and helping them

grow

in their faith

Campaigners: Sharing life together and applying the

Word of God to daily life.

Discipleship Camp: Encouraging high school kids to take the next step in their faith.

Work Crew/Summer Staff: Discipleship through service and an experience in Christian community.

Student Leadership * : A way for juniors and seniors in Auburn to learn the disciplines of being a follower of Jesus through YL leadership.

*Students lead/serve as middle school leaders and high school student representatives (on club team, musicians, etc.) as decided in conversations between the student and the area staff and team leaders.

Young Life Leaders are the Core of our Ministry with Kids

Young Life doesn't start with a program. It starts with adults who are concerned enough about kids to go to them, on their turf and in their culture, building bridges of authentic friendship.

These relationships don't happen overnight — they take time, patience, trust and consistency.

So Young Life leaders log many hours with kids

— where they are, as they are. We listen to their stories and learn what's important to them because we genuinely care about their joys, triumphs, heartaches and setbacks.

We believe in the power of presence. Kids' lives are dramatically impacted when caring adults come alongside them, sharing God's love with them.

Because their Young Life leader believes in them, they begin to see that their lives have great worth, meaning and purpose.

This is the first step of a lifelong journey; the choices they make today, based upon God's love for them, will impact future decisions … careers chosen, marriages formed and families raised. All ripples from the time when a Young Life leader took time to reach out and enter their world.

Committee

The Young Life committee is the lifeline for Young Life in Auburn. The committee is a group of local adults who care about kids and are committed to Young Life's mission to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. Committee is also active in supporting the local

Young Life ministry by fundraising, securing administrative resources and encouraging staff.

Our committee is made up of several sub committees. Committee might be the right fit for you if any of the following service niches/teams are of interest:

Spiritual Development

• prayer, church relationships, fellowship

Leadership Development

• leader/volunteer care, recruiting, teambuilding, training

Area Development

• events & fundraisers, major donor care, public relations, TDS

Ministry Support

• accounting, administrational, data management, strategic planning
